Say hello to the band coming all the way from Austria!

Die Donaupiraten

“Die Donaupiraten” is an Austrian band founded in 1998 under the name “Keep on Smiling.”

They worked around Europe, especially Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria.

In 2005 the bandleader Christian and then-president of the German American Social Club, Maria Willumsen, were in contact. Initially, it was not that sure if there will be an Oktoberfest because of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Shortly afterward, the band got hired for the 2005 Oktoberfest Miami, changed the band’s name to “Die Donaupiraten” and experienced hurricane Wilma on the last Sunday of Oktoberfest.

The band fell in love with Oktoberfest Miami, the German American Social Club, made a lot of friends with visitors and club members, and has come every year since 2005, except for the years of Covid.

During this time, the members of the band changed because of their job or family situations. This year, for the first time, the bandleader will come over with his daughter and son.

Ruth Eder is 23 years old, started singing at the age of 5 years, and has been a band member since 2019. She was in a music middle school and studied to be a Kindergarten teacher, medical assistant, and elderly help.

Gregor Eder is 25 years old, started playing guitar in his first band at 13, and has been a band member since 2017, playing guitar, drums, and singing. He is studying psychology at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna. He also writes reviews of new releases and lives acts for the magazine Stormbringer.

Bandleader Christian Eder started playing in bands at the age of 14, had his first jobs outside of Austria at 17, and studied Classic and Jazz saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, and drums at the Music University Vienna, Schubert Konservatorium Vienna, Konservatorium der Stadt Wien, and the Vienna Konservatorium.  Christian has been a professional musician for more than 30 years. He founded the Band in 1998 and has more than 40 years of stage experience in all genres of music.

Die Seitz Bubn

Brothers Wolfgang and Robert were raised in Bavaria, close to the wonderful city of Bamberg. They learned piano and church organ when they were of school age and later started performing on stage with keyboards and drums when they were 13 and 15.  They also performed on trumpet, accordion, and cowbells in the following years. They performed Bavarian-style music, and folk and dance music at Bavarian tent festivals, Oktoberfest, and other parties in the Nuremberg and Wuerzburg region. But they perform in other countries too, traveling to Italy, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Miami USA, the US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. They have three CDs and sell them around the world. In 2023 they will celebrate her 40th stage anniversary.
